Discovery
After reviewing past year’s collections of dues we realized that just over 50% of those residing in the association geography actually paid yearly dues.
This is part of the reason we have weed control issues, these numbers are not good and as everyone is aware everything is costing more these days. Lake improvements are at an all time high, this allowing us to do less with what we have. We can not express to our community on how important it is to have every home and property owner on the lake pitch in every year.
Boat launch key
After speaking with residents, many thought yearly association dues fee was only to receive the boat launch key.
We can see why people would think this, however dues is not about the key. If residents are using other ways to put their boats in the water we still ask that everyone pays the yearly fee required to help maintain the lake the best way possible.
Why money matters
Big Crooked Lake is a private lake and with that, there are many hidden cost people are unaware of. Property owner dues are managed by the Big Crooked Lake Improvement Association to work for you and our community.
This money creates our yearly budgets.Money is used to cover the FREE boat launch key cost for residents after paying their dues. We use money for the boat launch maintenance. Mailers for communications, postage stamps, insurances, taxes, PO Box and lake signs.
The most expensive cost to all of us is the current lake treatment fees. Plus any all the other fees involved with the association business/special assessments. In addition to all the above stocking the lake with fish. We also put on the fall chili cook off /hay ride event for kids and families.
Imagine how all of these cost add up. We can only do so much with weed control based on cost and options. For these reasons, your yearly dues and money matters to the entire community and the lake life.
